I built and led the design team responsible for the web and app experiences reaching 22M monthy UVs, and the CMS and curation tools used by 100+ editors and staff.

HuffPost Homepage

HuffPost is a global digital media site covering News, Politics, Entertainment, Lifestyle and more. The homepage is the flagship product and has a loyal and engaged audience. The editorial team works around the clock updating content, however they had very limited storytelling capabilities.

We created a dynamic system of zones, layouts and themes giving editors a solution that would keep the homepage looking fresh and help users discover content that may interest them by using a variety of layouts instead of a single template.

HuffPost Voices

Huffpost has five community verticals: Black Voices, Queer Voices, Women’s Voices, Asian Voices and Latino Voices. All were using the same look and feel as news, so we designed a distinct look and feel that was better aligned with the editorial goals. We wanted to improve the experience for users, and the business development team was eager to offer the new Voices section as a sponsorship opportunity for advertisers. As a result, HuffPost Voices is the second most sponsored section and the top area for branded content and particularly popular among entertainment advertisers.

HuffPost LIFE

HuffPost is best known for Politics, but also publishes a lot of lifestyle content. Lifestyle is a top selling area, but users were consuming it mostly through off platform distributed channels. Front page traffic was declining as a result of news fatigue. Repackaging lifestyle content was expected to bring in significant revenue from direct sales such as premium sponsorships, branded content, events, etc. For the last several years, HuffPost Life has been the top selling section of the site.
